The companies of the Jaeger Group use the IMDS (International Material Data System) to manage and process the material data of their products. These process instructions are valid from the addition to the IMDS rules and guidelines, which must be observed when including material data in the IMDS. Permissible company-specific deviations of the Jaeger Group are therefore taken into account. Furthermore, it can be used as a reference guide.

The IMDS is the material data system for the automotive industry. The IMDS has developed into a global standard used by almost all globally active OEMs. In addition, talks are held with other manufacturers about the participation in IMDS. IMDS collects, maintains, analyses and files all materials used in automotive production. By using the IMDS, it is possible to meet the obligations imposed on automotive manufacturers and their suppliers by national and international standards, laws and regulations.

  • Registration in IMDS
To be able to create and submit material data within the scope of the IMDS, a supplier must be registered in the IMDS. Registration in the IMDS is free and can be carried out at the following link:

  • Creation of a data sheet in IMDS
Material data sheets for companies of the Jaeger Group are to be compiled according to the IMDS rules and guidelines. Particular attention must be paid to the IMDS guidelines 001, 001a and 019.
  • SDS according to REACH
The safety data sheet is the central communication instrument under the REACH regulation, since:
"The safety data sheet shall enable users to take the necessary measures to protect human health and safety at work and protect the environment. The manufacturer of the safety data sheet must take into account that a safety data sheet must inform its addressees of the dangers of a substance or a mixture, as well as information on the safe storage, handling and disposal of the substance or mixture.
  • Flow of information across the supply chain
Reference is made to chapters 32 and 33 of the REACH Regulation for information on substances, mixtures and products across the entire supply chain. The suppliers of the companies of the Jaeger Group are therefore obliged to procure suitable information from their suppliers and pass it on to the companies of the Jaeger Group as required. For the suppliers of the companies of the Jaeger Group, this includes material data sheets in the IMDS and declarations of conformity and safety data sheets in the corresponding Articles 31, 32 and 33 of the REACH Regulation.
