In case of a malfunction of the rear lighting function, some modern vehicle types switch to an alternative lighting function until the original lighting function is restored. For example, if the rear flashing light fails, the reversing light will be switched to flashing mode. However, this backup light function must not influence the functionality of the trailer lamps.
