What is SVM coding (measure code) or license coding?

SVM stands for Software Versions Management.

SVM coding carries out automatic coding (alignment) of all necessary vehicle control systems and can only be used with the original manufacturer tester (ODIS). If changes are made to the vehicle with an approved SVM code, this is automatically reverse documented online with the manufacturer! The new equipment is assigned to the vehicle and saved accordingly. This is then considered for future software updates etc.

The previous SVM code (measure code) is partly replaced by a new coding routing.

License coding:

When buying an original trailer coupling and the associated wiring harness, the customer receives an “activation document” (license code), which contains three codes for approval. These are assigned to the vehicle number in the manufacturer’s database, which means they can only be used once. Without these codes, the vehicle cannot be approved using the manufacturer system with reverse documentation.
