What is the difference between a universal and a specific wiring harness?

The universal wiring harness is suitable for many cars without a specially prepared cable harness. In this case, each cable must be individually connected to the vehicle’s rear lights with a cable quick connector. Each light function must be adapted to the rear light cable in question. The cable lengths are not cut to fit the vehicle.

A vehicle-specific wiring harness, in contrast, is generally tailor-made to fit the cable lengths and plugs for the vehicle in question. This wiring harness is easier to install, as the installation instructions have been produced for that vehicle, and generally the plug can be connected directly to the rear lights or particular hub points.
